Summer Fruits, Sampling Saturdays, Ditching Disposables Forum

…to everyone who joined us in celebrating both our 30th anniversary and the Friends of Ely Park’s beautification project! We had a great time and were thrilled to see so many people having fun together and enjoying the games, inflatables, food, and music. Also big thanks to the Friends of Ely Park, Union Fire Company, musicians, and everyone else who contributed to making this special day a success.

Homestead 30th Anniversary

Ditching Disposables Forum – You’re Invited!

Your ideas matter – and we want to hear them! The Lambertville Environmental Commission is holding a Sustainable Business Forum on Wednesday, July 31 at 1:00 p.m. at the Phillip J. Pittore Justice Center, 25 South Union Street, Lambertville. The forum will focus on the role of local businesses in the Ditching Disposables ordinance, which goes into effect on January 1, 2020 – just six months away. Find out how together, businesses and residents can be part of the solution to end single-use plastics, Styrofoam containers, plastic straws, etc.

As one of the businesses that has begun the transition early, Homestead will be talking about our efforts thus far to comply with this eco-friendly initiative and where we plan to go from here. You can find out more about the forum on the Lambertville Environmental Commission’s Facebook event.

Sampling Saturdays Schedule

We’ll be having samples every Saturday throughout August from 1 to 4 p.m. – here’s a schedule of what you can look forward to:

  • August 3:  Homestead’s tomatoes w/ fresh mozzarella
  • August 10: Sample some Siam favorites
  • August 17: Salsa Saturday
  • August 24: Enjoy some goodies from Greg, our baker
  • August 31: Hanks Hot Sauce Saturday

Summer Fruits Are Here In Abundance!

One of the things we all look forward to most is summer fruits, especially since so many of them are Jersey Fresh from local farms. Besides being special seasonal treats, they’ve got plenty of health benefits too, so you can snack away without feeling guilty, or use them in recipes like peach salsa, which is great with fish. And watermelon is a delicious way to stay hydrated on those super-hot days – for both you and your pup, as long as you remove all seeds and don’t let Fido chew on the rind! (It’s always best check with your vet first to make sure any new food is safe for your dog.)

Celebrating Homestead’s 30th Anniversary!

Celebrating Homestead’s 30th Anniversary!

Wow, where have the years gone?! This year we’re celebrating Homestead’s 30th anniversary, and we can’t think of a better, more meaningful place to hold our celebration than at Ely Memorial Park, the land that Ed’s family donated several decades ago.

The Friends of Ely Park have done a fabulous job making the park even more beautiful, welcoming and user-friendly for everyone in our wonderful community. In honor of their hard work and the many contributions of our community members in making this dream a reality, we’re excited to join the festivities to celebrate both the revitalized park and our anniversary with our friends and neighbors.

The joint celebration – aptly named Ely Park’s Great Big Day! – will be on July 12 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with lots of fun activities including:

Check Out Our New Jersey Fresh Harvest Schedule!

We’ve created an easy-to-read harvest schedule for Jersey Fresh produce, which you can find on our produce page here. It’s in alphabetical order with clear designations as to which months each fruit or veggie is harvested in New Jersey, so you can easily find what you’re looking for by produce type or by month.

We always carry Jersey Fresh produce when it’s available, but when it’s out of season, we still have a full range of produce for you, from opening day in April through season-end on December 24.

Homestead’s July Sampling Schedule

We’re excited to be hosting Sampling Weekends in July! You may have seen these local business’s products in our farm market, but if you haven’t had the opportunity to try them, now’s the time! Stop in and discover something new.
